    Hawai'i - Kauai - Bill Thornton has been hired as General Manager of Briant Construction, a mechanical, design/build contractor, and project and construction management firm, that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kauai-based Aqua Engineers, Hawaii’s largest and most experienced water and wastewater management and operations company.

     
  • Aqua Engineers Hires Ken Davis

    Hawai‘i - Kauai Ken Davis has been hired as Kaua‘i-based Aqua Engineers new Chief Financial Officer in charge of overall accounting, budgeting, financial planning and other financial operations of the company in support of the company’s strategic goals and ESOP initiatives.  
    In his previous employment, he served as the CFO/COO/Secretary and Treasurer at an employee benefits consulting company in the Midwest, which he joined in 1995.  He brings to Aqua 15 years of experience as an ESOP administrator and trustee.

    WAIMEA — Reliable expanded wastewater service opportunities, the creation of jobs for local contractors and the integration of new technology to provide more water as a resource are some of the benefits of the Waimea Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion, Phase I.

    Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. touched on these points during the blessing and groundbreaking of the project, Friday afternoon, which featured Haku Aletha Kaohi.

    “This is an excellent example of how the people of Kaua‘i are directly benefiting from federal stimulus funds,” Carvalho said. “We are pleased that Briant Construction was awarded the contract for the Waimea WWTP project via a competitive proposal process. We look forward to the job opportunities this project will provide our residents along with future economic development on the Westside as a result of the increased capacity of the treatment plant.”

    Phase I is intended to increase treatment capacity of the existing plant, built in the early 1970s, from approximately 300,000 gallons per day to 700,000 gallons per day with the ability for future expansion to 1.2 million gallons per day of flow treatment.

     
  • AQUA ENGINEERS ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS

    Hawaii-Kauai–based Aqua Engineers has promoted Hugh Strom and Lyle Tabata. The growing wastewater management company, now Hawaii’s largest, was recently awarded the contract for the Waimea Wastewater Treatment Plant project and has two large military contracts. They will be holding a groundbreaking and blessing at the Waimea plant location this Friday.

    Hugh Strom, has been promoted to Senior Vice President/business development, overseeing and supporting the Army Operations Manager, who is responsible for overseeing, coaching and developing the Army Operations Teams and implementing the policies and procedures for the Army contracts and projects.
